City Parish

Central Worcester is divided into two parishes, All Saints and Old St Martin's, each with its own parish church and church council. St George's church is located in Barbourne. These three parishes are united into one "Benefice" (i.e. they are served by one Rector) to form the City Parish. We are part of the Diocese of Worcester, which in turn is part of the Church of England. To find out more, you can visit their websites by via the links on the left.

Worcester High Street

The City Parish consists of the whole of the commercial centre of Worcester, together with some residential areas outside the historic core. Within the Parish are also the Worcester College of Technology, Guildhall, and the Crowngate and Lychgate Shopping Centres. The resident population is about 2,300. More than 17,000 full- and part-time students use the College, and many people come into the city to work, or as shoppers or tourists. The ministry of the City Parish is divided between those who live and work in the Parish, and those who worship in the churches.

The City Parish plays an active part in working together with churches of other denominations.

The three parish churches offer markedly different styles of worship.

  • At All Saints our worship reflects our Evangelical Anglican ethos, with an informal morning service of Worship, a more formal early evening service, followed by an informal contemporary evening service. Communion is celebrated weekly alternating between the services. For service times at All Saints, see our Worship Page.
  • At Old St Martin's Church the Eucharist is celebrated regularly in a modern Catholic liturgy. Services of Benediction and Stations of The Cross are held occasionally. For more details, visit the Old St Martin's website via the link on the left.
  • St George's Church in Barbourne is a maintream Anglican parish church serving the local community. For more details, visit the St George's website via the link on the left.

Together we represent the diversity of Anglican mission and ministry, working in partnership to spread the Gospel and serve the coming Kingdom.

Recently, after more than 60 years, St Helen's Church has been returned to use as a centre of worship and mission. Praise the Lord! For more details of what's happening at St Helen's, see our St Helen's Page or visit the St Helens's website via the link on the left.
