Life

You are invited to LIFE ...

Why do we run it?

Firstly, we all come to experiences in life with assumed knowledge and received expectations. We want to give people an opportunity to hear about Christian spirituality anew - to sift the facts from the myth, to jury-test the contentious issues, and to be able to ask questions about practical experiences from a variety of folk who are like them.

Secondly, is that across the country many churches have found that running courses similar to this revitalises their faith. It is incredibly healthy to hear other people's stories, other spiritual journeys, and to be challenged by them. At the very least for eight weeks we engage with each other's lives and world views and out of that all our spiritualities are deepened and enriched. After all, a faith that isn't engaged with real life in the 21st century isn't a faith worth engaging with.

Who is it for?

Anyone interested in exploring Christian spirituality..

What is it?

An eight-week course. Beginning at 7.30 p.m. each evening, with a short talk, video clips, interviews and discussion. Halfway through the evening we take a short break for hot drinks and cakes.

We consider some of life's big questions, including: 'What can I really believe?', 'Does prayer work?', and 'Who is Jesus?'

When and where?

We meet at St Helen's Church on the High Street - our entrance is on Fish Street. Here are the dates:

15 January'the way we are'
22 January'Jesus'
29 January'the resurrection'
5 February'the cross'
12 February'holy books'
19 February'prayer'
26 February'the spiritual map'
4 March'afterLIFE'

... plus optional sessions on 'experiencing God' - taking place in the evening of Friday 22 February , and during the daytime on Saturday 23 February (venue to be confirmed).

What if?

Whilst we're delighted that people come along to the Life course, no-one goes chasing after them if they don't come again. They're free to come and go as they please, to start the course at any point and to leave it if they feel it's not for them. In the busy-ness of city living it can be difficult to commit to eight Tuesdays in a row, so some folk need to miss weeks here and there.
